Public Notice: Water Shutdown in Bloemfontein on 13 Feb 2015

MEDIA ALERT: WATER SHUTDOWN FOR INSTALLTION OF HIGH-LIFT PUMP

Notice is hereby given that there will be an interruption of water supply within the municipal area of Bloemfontein on Friday, 13 February 2015. The purpose of the shutdown is for installation of the high-lift pump number 8 at the Maselspoort Water Treatment Plant.

The areas of the City that will be influenced by this shutdown are the northern suburbs that are supplied with water from the Maselspoort Water Treatment Plant. This includes the areas of Wild Olive Estate, Helicon Heights, Pentagon Park, Bayswater, Heuwelsig, Westdene and Brandwag.

Residents, businesses, factories, schools, clinics and all consumers in these areas are hereby notified that the water supply will be affected for 12hrs, starting from 06H00 until 18H00.

All residents are kindly requested to use water sparingly (please avoid filling swimming pools, washing cars and watering the garden) from today and throughout the period of the shutdown in order to ensure that the reservoirs do not run dry during the shutdown period.

These new pumps, which have a much higher efficiency, will increase the delivery of the raw water abstraction and delivery of potable water to Bloemfontein from Masselspoort.

Please note that the areas of Thaba Nchu, Botshabelo as well as the southern areas of Bloemfontein will not be affected by this shutdown.

Mangaung Metro would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
